  • Spotify has confirmed that it is raising its subscription prices for US users.
  • This affects all Premium tiers, including Individual, Duo, Family, and Student.
  • The price hike will take effect from billing dates throughout February 2026.

After months of speculation, Spotify has confirmed that it is raising its US subscription prices. This will come into effect when billing dates renew throughout February 2026 and coincides with increased prices for Estonian and Latvian subscribers. Spotify claims that this latest price hike will enable it to “continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists.”

For context, a Spotify Individual subscription cost $9.99/month when the platform launched in the US in 2011. This increased to $10.99/month in July 2023, and then to $11.99/month from July 2024. However, from February 2026, a Spotify Premium Individual subscription will cost $12.99/month. Newcomers will still be able to trial the music streaming service for one month free before committing.

The price increases also stretch to Spotify’s other tiers. For example, a Spotify Duo account will now cost $18.99/month, up from the current price of $16.99/month. Likewise, a Spotify Family plan will cost $21.99/month instead of $19.99/month, and the company’s Student subscription is increasing to $6.99/month from $5.99/month. You can see Spotify’s updated monthly US subscription prices compared below:

  • Spotify Individual: $12.99 (was $11.99)
  • Spotify Duo: $18.99 (was $16.99)
  • Spotify Family: $21.99 (was $19.99)
  • Spotify Student: $6.99 (was $5.99)

These follow months of price hikes in other territories. For example, the company increased its subscription prices in the UK, Switzerland, and Australia last year. It also launched a higher-priced Premium Platinum tier in India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates in November 2025. This costs more than double Spotify’s standard subscription in these territories, bringing AI-powered features, exclusive perks, and lossless audio. The latter has undoubtedly come with increased operational costs and may go some way in explaining why Spotify is upping its prices now.
